THE POWER OF PRAYER

It has been said that “common knowledge is often not common practice.” Almost everybody knows that drinking plenty of water (at least 6 – 8 glasses) each day is good for one’s health. Meanwhile, water is the cheapest commodity one can find. However, very few people are able to give that benefit to themselves.

The power of prayer is a common knowledge to everyone including even unbelievers, however, very few believers avail themselves to the supernatural power of prayer. What is prayer, prayer is a spiritual exercise, prayer is one of the most important weapon ever given to the believer, and hindrances to prayer are subjects that demands our most serious consideration. It is quite likely that the reason why prayer is not a common practice to some believers is that they have been taught to look at prayer or observe prayer as a religious form or ritual. However, prayer is based upon personal relationship with God.

The core foundation of every relationship (parent-children, teacher-student, husband-wife, Jesus-believer) is communication. Therefore, if the believer could looked at prayer from a relational point, instead, of a religious one, then prayer could become a common practice. Again, the believer is a spiritual person, and prayer is the exercise of our spirit nature. Thus spiritual growth and maturity cannot take place without prayer. Moreover, the believer is daily at war against unseen forces of darkness, and prayer is one of our best weapons of war. Through prayer our confidence is emboldened, our faith is revived, and impossibilities are made possible.Notwithstanding, there are certain elements like unbelief, unforgiveness, and disobedience that can both hinder your prayers and quench your praying spirit.
